French Means Business Forum at UIUC October 27

The French Department at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is hosting its annual French Means Business Forum in Illini Union, 1401 W. Green St., Urbana, on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2005.

Sessions, which are free and open to the public, will take place from 10 a.m. to noon and 2-4 p.m. in Illini Union, rooms 314A and 314B.

The purpose of the event is to encourage young people to study French for international careers in business and to convey the importance of language skills and cross-cultural competence in today's global economy.

Business executives and French and Canadian government representatives will be presenting on the many uses of French in international careers in business, engineering, law, translation, and other areas, and will share cross-cultural business practices, lessons learned from overseas assignments, and other relevant topics.

Information on study abroad, internships, the UIUC commercial French major, the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry exams, and UIUC certification in global business culture will also be available.

This event is co-sponsored by the Illinois Center for International Business Education and Research.
