Austrian novelist to read from
his
work, March 6, at U. of I.

URBANA—Austrian novelist and a visiting professor at the University of Illinois Josef Haslinger will read in German from his works on Monday, March 6, from 3:30-4:30 p.m., at the Illinois Program for Research in the Humanities, 805 W. Pennsylvania, in Urbana.

The reading is free and open to the public.

Haslinger, born in 1955, is a novelist and non-fiction writer.  He is professor of creative writing at the University of Leipzig, Austria. 

His works include the best-selling novel “Opernball,” (1995) which was also adapted for film; “Das Vaterspiel” (2000); and the essay collection “Klasse Burschen” (2001).

The reading is sponsored by “Die Fruchtbringende Gesellschaft” of the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures and Literatures and the Illinois Program for Research in the Humanities (IPRH).
